The Mad Tea-Party
From £19.99
Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) has been reprinted, re-illustrated and reimagined ever since. My Alice prints go back to the look of her first decade, the colour wood engravings of the 1860s. Each scene is made with AI image tools and art-directed by me.
In Chapter VII, "A Mad Tea-Party", Alice finds the Hatter and the March Hare taking tea under a tree outside the March Hare's house, with a sleeping Dormouse wedged between them as a cushion. The table is long, but they are crowded at one corner, and they cry "No room! No room!" as she arrives. Time has stopped at six o'clock, so it is always tea-time and they never have a moment to wash up. They just move round to the next clean cups. I put Alice in the big arm-chair at the far end and kept the March Hare's house behind them, with chimneys shaped like ears and a roof thatched with fur, because I couldn't leave that house out. She wears yellow here, a period choice rather than the familiar blue.
For tea lovers, Carroll collectors, a child's room that will grow with them, or anyone who is late for something important. Unframed A4 prints start at £19.99, and framed prints arrive ready to hang.
