Fog on the moor, a full moon, and out of the dark comes the thing the legend promised.

From The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle (1902), Chapter 14. The fog has rolled over the moor and the trap has gone wrong. Out of it bursts "an enormous coal-black hound", fire breaking from its jaws and eyes glowing, while its victim lies face down in the grass and two men in bowler hats raise their revolvers among the rocks. Doyle spends the whole book convincing you it is only a story. I wanted this to be the moment you stop being sure.
I gave it the look of a 1790s colour print finished in pen and watercolour: mottled colour, a rough drawn line, aged paper, and the fog laid in soft and grey around the one hot shape in the picture. It felt right for a legend, as if it had been printed long before anyone saw the hound.
The look comes from William Blake's colour print Nebuchadnezzar (1795 to 1805), in the Tate. I borrowed his mottled colour and his raw, haunted line. His figure and setting aren't here. A typeset caption under the picture gives the book, the line from Doyle and this credit.
I create each scene with AI image tools, then art-direct and refine it until it feels right. It's a print of a digital artwork made in the style of an 18th-century colour print, not a hand-pulled print or an original. Nothing in it comes from any film or TV version. Each one carries my printed "Chapter & Scene" signature below the caption.
A4 or A3, unframed or framed. Every print is made to order on heavyweight 200gsm+ archival matte paper at full print quality (300 DPI). Frames are slim pine, in black, white or natural oak, with shatter-resistant plexiglass and no mount, so the print's own cream margin is the border. Framed prints arrive ready to hang. Free delivery to the UK and US, tracked on most orders. Small unframed prints going to the US are sent untracked.
